Preparing human services and counseling professionals to provide supportive, educational, and counseling services in a wide range of settings, including agencies, PK-12 schools, and colleges and universities; to contribute to knowledge in human services and counseling through scholarly contributions of faculty members and students; and to provide service to the human services and counseling professions, the community, and ODU.

The Department of STEM Education and Professional Studies has three academic program areas. Each program provides you with the necessary skills needed to elevate your career and make a difference. Department of Teaching & Learning
The Department of Teaching & Learning is devoted to promoting the development of our students as professional educators, leaders, and critically engaged citizens. Through these efforts, our students become innovative and creative educators who make a difference for diverse learners, from birth through adulthood, in schools and communities, both local and global.
Department of Communication Disorders & Special Education
Academic programs previously offered in the Department of Communication Disorders and Special Education have moved. The Bachelor of Science degree and the minor in speech-language pathology and audiology are administered by the Dean's Office in the College of Health Sciences. The Bachelor of Science degree and the minor in special education are administered by the Department of Human Movement Sciences in the Darden College of Education and Professional Studies.
